An automated screwdriver machine uses M12 A-code 5-pin
A Shenzhen automation company makes automatic screwdriving machines for 3C electronics assembly lines. Each machine has multiple sensors — screw presence detection, torque monitoring, and feeding detection. Originally each sensor was wired individually to the controller — numerous wires invited connection errors, and new assemblers needed a week of training to wire independently.
We designed a standardized M12 A-coded 5-pin interface that consolidated all sensor power and signals into a single connector type. Each sensor uses an M12 molded cable, and the control cabinet has a panel of M12 receptacles — keyed to prevent mismatching.
After standardization, assembler training time dropped from one week to one day, and wiring errors were virtually eliminated. Equipment consistency also improved — previously every machine had slightly different wiring; now they are fully uniform, making field service much easier.
